The religious-reform movements in the 16th century had the following results:

2. Anti-Reformation Movements Reformation movements forced the Catholic Church to rectify its faults. 4. Religious intolerance and bloodshed In the name of both the Protestants and the Catholics, terrible bloodshed took place. Now the demand for democracy instead of autocratic rule started increasing all over the world.

Development of trade and commerce According to Catholic opinion, it was against religion to accumulate more money and give it for interest, but due to the coming into existence of Calvinism, this belief started to fade away. According to Calvinism, “It is better to earn more money and lend it at interest.”

This ideology was welcomed by traders, producers and bankers and they were inspired to develop trade and commerce. As a result of this, trade and commerce began to develop rapidly.
