Definition of chemistry and its importance
The branch of chemistry under which the properties, composition, composition and chemical reactions of substances are studied is called chemistry. The word chemistry is derived from the ancient name of the Egyptian country, Chermia, as it is believed that chemistry originated in Egypt.
Robert Boyle established chemistry as a separate branch and Berzelius made important discoveries and contributed to the development of theories. Due to which Berzelius is called the Grand Father of Chemistry. Due to his contribution to chemistry, Lavoisier is called the Father of Modern Chemistry.
To facilitate the study of chemistry, it is again divided into different sub-disciplines.

Chemistry is of utmost importance in the present time. It has made our life convenient and comfortable. Most of the things used in our daily life (medicines, food items, polymers, metals, glass, soaps, textiles, etc.) are the product of chemistry. Therefore, chemistry has entered our lives so much that without it, a pleasant life cannot be imagined. Following are some common uses of chemistry
1. importance of chemistry in agriculture
Chemicals are used in the manufacture of Fertiliser, Insecticides, Fungicides, Pesticides, Preservatives, good varieties of seeds etc.
2. importance of chemistry in industries
In the manufacture of cement, leather, dyes, paper, petroleum, glass, soap, detergents, paints, textiles (artificial, silk, wool, artificial yarn) etc. Chemistry has a special contribution.
3. importance of chemistry in medicine
Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, etc. Medicines and other medicines like Chloromycetin, Streptomycetin, Ampicillin, etc. Antibiotics are manufactured by chemicals. The manufacture of cis-platin (which is used for the treatment of cancer) and azidothymidine (AZT which is used in the treatment of AIDS) etc. has also been made possible by chemicals.

The manufacture of materials such as ceramics, superconductors, conductors, optical fibers, fibers, etc. has been possible only with the help of chemistry.

With the help of chemistry, new technologies are being used to protect the environment, such as chlorofluorocarbons, the agents of ozone depletion in the stratosphere, are being synthesized by chemicals. Apart from the above, there are many other fields, which have been possible only through chemistry. Therefore, it is clear that chemistry has a special contribution in every field of our life.
